Disney News : Disney Character Bandz (Silly Bands)
For any fans or parents that have children that are fands of silly bands, be on the lookout!!
My wife went to our local Walgreens today (pharmacy) and they had a rack full of Disney silly bands. They are official Disney merchandise and Disney has elected to call their bands "Character Bandz"
I'll have to ask her if they had others, but she bought Classic Disney Characters (mickey, donald..etc), Disney Princess and Toy Story 3 Bandz.
My kids are nuts over silly bands and these new Disney Bandz are a HUGE hit at my house!
Roy Edward Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney whose commitment to his uncle's creative spirit prompted him to mount revolts that led to the unseating of two of the company's chief executives and a revival of the studio's legendary animation unit, died today. He was 79.
Disney, who had been battling stomach cancer, died at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, according to Clifford A. Miller, a spokesman for Disney's company Shamrock Holdings.
Disney already has a new star on its hands with Princess Tiana.
"The Princess and the Frog," in which she's featured, doesn't bow until Dec. 11, but merchandise for the Disney toon is outselling other Disney Princess-branded items by double digits.
More than 45,000 of the character's dolls have sold in less than a month, with 17,000 sold last week alone. Sales of bedding for the pic are triple that of other Disney Princess sets at some retailers and at the Disney Store, Princess Tiana dresses are selling better than other characters.
That's good news for the Mouse House, as "Frog" introduces a brand-new princess -- something the company hasn't done since "Mulan" in 1998.
Tiana is the focal point of Disney's campaign for the pic, and is unavoidable on the Mouse's websites and TV channels. The company has also been introducing her to guests at its theme parks with the character performing three times a day in the riverboat musical "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee" at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. There's also character meet-and-greets in the parks.
Princess merchandise has been a major moneymaker for Disney, earning more than $4 billion for the company each year. With Tiana as Disney's first African-American princess, the numbers could grow even more as the character attracts a new fanbase to the line.
Disney has been rolling out "Frog"-themed merchandise for weeks, which include toys, apparel, home decor, food, cosmetics, collectibles, stationery, cookbooks and wedding dresses.
"It is typical with any major Disney film to see movie-inspired product available as early as six weeks prior to the film's release," says Mary Beech, VP of franchise development and marketing for Disney Consumer Products. "However, the historic nature of the release of 'The Princess and the Frog' has generated tremendous consumer excitement well in advance of the film and sales thus far have been very strong, something that is remarkable for characters with which fans are not yet completely familiar."

You may not know this but once a day, a Guest is selected from the lobby to have a photo taken with Chef Stefan Riemer in front of the carousel during the holidays. They also get a special created gingerbread shingle.
Disney News : Sleigh Rides Offered at Fort Wilderness
If you say “sleigh ride” — thoughts of Florida rarely follow. But this holiday season, there’s a new experience that may just change that. For the first time, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is offering horse-drawn sleigh rides through the woods at Walt Disney World Resort.
Beginning on November 29, a fire-engine red sleigh with garland and holiday lights will take you through parts of the 700-acre backwoods resort. The magic-makers at the resort’s Tri-Circle-D Ranch have equipped sleighs with tires for rides around property. Four adults or two adults and three children should be able to ride on each sleigh.
You’ll depart from the Blacksmith’s Shop near the Settlement area inside Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and travel into the forest on each 25-minute ride. It’ll cost $60 for one group to ride and children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
